Adoption Process
If you’re interested in adopting from me please contact me via the contact form and ask for the contract and adoption application. Please be sure to read the contract as there are important pieces of information you need to understand. Fill out the adoption application and email it back to me. I will review and determine whether you’re approved.
SELECTING YOUR BABIES:
Once you’ve been approved you may select which babies in the nursery you’d like to adopt. I DO NOT ADOPT SINGLE RATS. Even if you have rats at home, I will not adopt single rats out. Pairs or more is required. I do this because the babies coming from me should be in quarantine prior to being introduced to your existing rats. Please note: Babies are not available for adoption until I have selected my keepers from the litter(s), I will take pictures at 4.5 to 5 weeks of age, after that is when you may select your rats.
PAYMENT:
Once you’ve decided which babies you’d like to adopt, payment must be received within 24 hours to reserve the rats for you. If I do not receive payment I will not hold the rats for you, and another potential adopter may get them. I accept payment via paypal, if you send payment for goods and services, please factor in the paypal fees and add them. You may also send funds via friends and family and paypal will do it for you automatically.
PICKUP:
I will do pickups at specific times during the week. My schedule is hectic and can vary, so I cannot say that I will always do pickups on a certain day. I will send an email to all adopters and let them know when pick ups are. I will do two scheduled dates. If you cannot meet during either date, I will work with you to get your rats to you, but please understand this will require rearranging my schedule, and may cost you extra for the extra time on my part.

IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO MEET ON THE AGREED TIME: Please let me know ASAP. I schedule these pickups based on my availability. If you are not able to meet I need to know at least 24 hours in advance. I understand things come up and I am willing to work with adopters to get their babies to them. However if I need to hold your rats for you for longer than a couple days I will require a "holding fee". Staying longer than planned with me means I am feeding them, cleaning their cage, and likely have made plans based on their leaving my colony. I will not hold your rats longer than 2 weeks. If you cannot pick them up within that time frame, you forfeit them, and I do not offer refunds. Please make sure you can come and pick up your rats on the agreed upon time.
When picking up your baby bring two copies of my contract. One for you to keep, and one for me. Please also bring a rat-safe carrier. Cat/dog Carriers will NOT be acceptable. Babies can get thru anything bigger than a ½ inch, and some can squeeze through spaces smaller than that. I WILL NOT LET YOU TAKE THE BABIES HOME IN A CAT/DOG Carrier!!! Do not bring one.
PICK UP LOCATION:
I use two pick up locations. Petco in Exton, PA or Petsmart in Downingtown PA. Again day of the week and time are subject to my schedule.

IF I DO NOT HAVE BABIES AVAILABLE:
If you are positive you want a pair of babies from me you can be placed on a waitlist. In order to be placed I do require a $20 deposit. This will ensure you get a pair of babies from a future litter. When I have a waitllist I will contact adopters in the order in which I received their deposit.
